Do you know that in middle-aged women, cholesterol levels rise after menopause?

Dr. Karen A. Matthews of the University of Pittsburgh, USA showed in a study that total cholesterol increases by approximately 6.5% post menopause.

Estrogen, a female hormone, plays a role in controlling blood cholesterol levels. In the postmenopausal period, estrogen levels drop and blood cholesterol levels rise.

So ladies, make sure to take time out of your busy schedule, to stay healthy and check your cholesterol levels regularly!
